The tram made that journey that went from Puerta Real to Riazor along the seafront. In 2011, after the derailment of a machine, Mayor Carlos Negreira decided to stop the service. In 2013 , various repair works were awarded on the infrastructure due to the poor state of maintenance. Due to the continued deficit that it generated in the municipal coffers, neither the municipal government at that time of the PP nor the subsequent one of Marea Atlántica chose to reactivate the service, being a tourist infrastructure that did not meet its sustainability objectives and in a context of very harsh budgetary adjustments in essential areas, especially intense since the beginning of the economic crisis that began in 2008.
