Why you should back the American League
Marcus Semien of the hometown Texas Rangers will make the start at second base. Although his stats are down from last year’s World Series winning season, he is more than capable of providing some pop, especially in front of the home crowd. In 94 games this season, he is batting .242 with 17 doubles, one triple, 13 homers and 51 RBI with 61 runs scored. He has been red hot of late, going 3-for-3 with a walk in Friday’s 6-3 loss at Houston. He homered in Saturday’s 2-1 win over the Astros, and has a six-game hitting streak.

Third baseman Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians has been mashing this season. In 92 games this year, he is batting .271 with 20 doubles, one triple, 23 homers, 77 RBI and 70 runs scored. He was 2-for-5 with a double in Saturday’s 4-2 win at Tampa Bay, and was 3-for-3 with a double, three walks and two runs scored in a 9-8 10-inning win at Detroit on July 9. He has found Globe Life Field to his liking, going 5-for-11 with two walks and four RBI in three games there this season. See who to back at SportsLine.

Why you should back the National League
First baseman Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies enters the break seventh in the National League in hitting at .301, and is a big reason the Phillies are dominating the NL East. He has hits in eight of the past 11 games, including four games with two hits or more. In Saturday’s 11-5 win over the Oakland Athletics, he was 2-for-3 with a double, homer, three RBI and two runs scored. For the year, he has played in 81 games, banging out 91 hits, including 21 doubles and 21 home runs with 61 RBI.

Also helping power the National League is former MVP Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers. Although he missed significant time due to a back injury, he appears to be close to his MVP form. In 70 games this season, he is batting a National League-best .326 with 12 doubles, three triples, 11 homers, 41 RBI and 44 runs scored. In a 9-2 win over thasfreat64w57567y4w
